As per request I'm sharing a star fold card template. Once you know how to make it you can decorate as you like.
Take a 12x12 card Make a mark on the top of the page at 15cm and from this mark draw a line part way down the middle of the page. Working with your ruler from your top mark make a mark 4cm down this central line. From this 4cm mark draw a line to the bottom left hand corner and then draw a line from the 4cm mark to the bottom right hand corner. You will have drawn a Triangle.
Cut along those lines and you will have your triangle base.
Working from your inner triangle points, Place your ruler with the point of the triangle at the 15cm ruler line and make a mark 5cm either side of this ( 10cm and 20cm) . Do this from all three inner triangle points.
Here's a template I saw but I like mine too.
Rub out your pencil marks now.
Fold all the inside lines inwards and all the outer folds backwards.Tuck the folds into one another as shown and then use a bone folder to strengthen the folds. (Valley fold)
Fold in one side, then the next side, and tuck the last side under the first to close.
Now decorate as per wish!
Some suggestions:
This is a lovely card I'd like to try but got lost when you mentioned 'inner triangle points'. Also on diagram is 1 1/4" the distance from top point to horizontal line or space between two horizontal lines? If it's from top then what's distance between two horizontal lines. Sorry if everyone else thinks this is obvious. I just can't work it out.
ReplyDeleteGonna give this a try when all else fails card making is our salvation
ReplyDeletehumm, when everything was folded and overlapped, card was still too big to fit into a #6 (4.75x6.50) size envelope. Very disappointing.
ReplyDeleteI got lost just reading the directions and looking at the template
